Preparing for Your Visit

You must arrange to have a responsible adult accompany you, wait during your procedure, and drive you home. THIS IS REQUIRED OR SURGERY MAY BE CANCELLED.

A Pre-operative Nurse from Rush Surgicenter will phone you one to two days before your surgery to confirm the time you should arrive.

Make sure you follow the pre-operative nurse's instructions concerning medication, eating and drinking. All patients are instructed not to eat or drink anything, including water, after midnight on the day before surgery. However, you may take a sip of water with medication if the pre-operative nurse says it's permissible. If you should forget to follow instructions, be certain to phone the SurgiCenter the morning of the surgery at 312-563-2880.

If you have to cancel your visit before the day of your procedure, please call your doctor’'s office first. Then phone the SurgiCenter at 312-563-2880 anytime between 6:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. If you are feeling ill the morning of the surgery, please notify the SurgiCenter so we can determine if your operation should be rescheduled.
